RIAA: Chris Brown Breaks Tie with Bruno Mars To Become Second Best-Selling Male Singer of Digital Era

Published: Monday 14th Feb 2022 by Rashad

Four months after Chris Brown made headlines for tying Bruno Mars as the second best-selling male singer in the history of digital music (as we reported here), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirms C. Breezy has breezed past his ‘Grenade’-singing counterpart to claim the runner-up title by his lonesome.

Details inside:

On Tuesday (February 8), the RIAA took to press to announce Brown’s H.E.R.-assisted tune ‘Come Together’ (found aboard his latest studio album ‘Indigo’) had been certified GOLD.  The measure, which signifies sales of 500,000 units in the United States, is all the more impressive considering the song never impacted the Billboard Hot 100.

Thanks to the update, Brown not only zooms past Mars’ career total of 90.5 million digital sales but he also extends his reign as the most-certified Black male singer ever as his cumulative digital sales now sit at 91 million.  Among all male vocalists, only Justin Bieber (at 107 million digital records sold) has more to his credit.

With all acts considered, Chris Brown is the 9th best-selling act in digital music history.  His catalog sales are bested only by Drake, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Eminem, Bieber, Katy Perry, and Post Malone.

    Smoke and mirrors!

Bruno surpassed Chris years ago in EVERYTHING! Sales, accolades, tours, #1’s, awards…. There’s no comparison fr! What a joke.

And to top it off; Bruno doesn’t release half the material that CB does….

    • True Tea February 14, 2022

      Disagree!

All the above artists who sold more, never “undervalued” Breezy tho. Each era since 2005 has had a MAJOR impact. Even w/ his scandals, he never went unnoticed. Further more Bruno is NOT changing the landscape of Hip-Hop/R&B, so he lacks the ability to switch the game up to make Breezy a NON factor in the NEW era.

Bruno’s recent album wasn’t a huge success. So he’s already losing ground within’ the Urban format, were Breezy has been consistent for over a decade. He’s still very much anticipated!

      • IceQueen February 14, 2022

And Bruno could still announce a world tour tomorrow and sell out! Everyone’s sales decreased, even Adele. That doesn’t make Bruno any less of a force. Didn’t CB drop a single recently. How’s that doing?

      • Bedown4life February 16, 2022

        Let em know

    • True Tea February 14, 2022

I never said he wasn’t successful, I said his star isn’t dimming Breezy.

Chris Brown is very resilient hence why he’s still able to sell music. Like TGJ mentioned, “Come Together” wasn’t even promoted as a single.

    • J February 14, 2022

Bruno literally makes karaoke and elevator music over and over and over again. Choose an era, he needs a new one to base his sound off of cause it’s definitely not original

      • IceQueen February 14, 2022

F*** your feelings. His success speaks for itself. 🤪 Continue to bask in misery as Bruno continues to slay your flop favs. 🤪🤪

      • True Tea February 14, 2022

That’s the thing, he isn’t slaying anyone, lol

Chris Brown has various scandals, yet Bruno w/ his clean cut image still couldn’t end the Breezy reign.

      • IceQueen February 14, 2022

        What reign???

CB hasn’t had a #1 hit in 15 years. The way his fans pump him up you would think he has 10 #1’s, sold millions upon millions and had sold out stadium tours worldwide. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes CB is doing his thing in his own lane. I give him that. But like I said Bruno surpassed him A LONG TIME AGO AND THATS 💯.

        I said what I said.

      • True Tea February 14, 2022

Hun ur comment simply support what I’ve been saying. Bruno has MASSIVE Success yet Breezy is still doing his thing. Regardless of when he had a #1, ppl are still checking for Breezy every era since 2005.

      • J February 14, 2022

Continue to bask in misery? The f*** lol

Anyway I know you can’t really help it cause you a crackbaby @IceCunt

So I’ma just leave you alone sis

      • Bedown4life February 16, 2022

        Im dying lol

    • Tino February 14, 2022

At the end of the day Usher is really the most successful male R&B artist since Michael Jackson. Chris entire 9 album catalogue haven’t even sold 25 million in pure sales. Most of Chris numbers come from free streams. Usher is over 65 million pure album sales and over 100 million digital. Usher sales just haven’t been updated for some reason.

      • IceQueen February 14, 2022

Let CB fans tell it he outsold Usher, MJ, Elvis and Barry Manilow 🤣🤣🤣🤣 All those backflips and his numbers are still unimpressive. He doesn’t have any classic albums or sold out world tours. You think someone of his “caliber” would be on a higher level.

      • True Tea February 14, 2022

Girl bye! No one here argued Breezy is the highest selling male artist. We’re saying his fans have been rocking w/ him since 2005 despite all the top selling male artists. When you keep ur fans fed…that is outcome dear.

He may not be the greatest seller but he’s still getting the bag & the streams. There are a lot of artists who wish they could bounce back especially in the age of cancel culture.

      • Bedown4life February 16, 2022

Bigging up Bruno by Putting CB down? Grow-Up. Talent-wise CB crushes him like a ant.

    • Breezi February 15, 2022

BruNO can never do what Chris does. He isn’t well rounded. All his music is rip offs. Giving Wedding singer and karaoke. Breezy would never. BruNO don’t want to see him on that stage bet!!!! B****

  2. King z February 14, 2022

    Two competing cokeheads

    • Breezi February 15, 2022

      Yo moms

  3. Slim February 14, 2022

Chris brown just proves a huge point. He’s original. Everything about him original . He can’t be touched dancing. He not tryna be prince or Elvis.the only artist close to mj . The industry pushing bruno and always gave. Chris been doing it himself cause they slowly turned on him.can’t stop talent you was born with . Doja cat proved that . She stomped on every female this year though she was robbed of awards last year. Congratulations Chris . Of course they not gonna allow thugs for too long.

    • Slim February 14, 2022

      This. Typo

    • True Tea February 14, 2022

      Exactly.

Bruno has more crossover appear thus the labels rather stand behind him. He’s safe but he’s NOT an original. So there is the pos & the cons w/ him.

He need a new formula if he want to stay relevant. He’s NOT Adele, who’s getting away w/ releasing only ballads.

    • Tino February 14, 2022

This all BS, Chris copied everything Michael Jackson and Usher did. Chris hasn’t out sold Usher in anything, Usher sales just haven’t been updated for some reason.

      • True Tea February 14, 2022

I wouldn’t say Chris copied Michael OR Usher but you can defiantly see the influences. I tend to disagree when people compare Chris to Michael because IMO his style is more similar to Bobby Brown.

Chris style of singing & dancing is less Traditional compared to Usher who sings & performs like 90’s artists. It does seem Usher’s name is rarely mentioned despite him being the biggest solo artist of the 2000’s.

      • Breezi February 15, 2022

Usher been a flop since forever

  5. NickiNationOfRapists February 14, 2022

    Chris Brown beats women.

He’ll have no legacy other than that.

If he tours, it will flop. Nothing but dead fans.

    • Breezi February 15, 2022

I like both artist. Chris Brown will always be #1. Since day one. I attended one of his concerts it was the best ever. He aim to please and don’t disappoint. Bruno is good but don’t compare.

  9. Bedown4life February 16, 2022

Blah blah blah cry to yo momma

  10. Bedown4life February 16, 2022

These losers are irrelevant. CB solidified his place as a GOAT already. Other singers have yet to fit his shoes. My guess is don’t hold your breath.
