Retirement where?
Nearly 3 years after Anita Baker sold out what she promised would be her last nationwide concert tour, the 64-year-old proves she is still a box office draw with the response to her return to Sin City.
Ahead of its May 28 kick off, tickets for the Queen of Quiet Storm’s limited engagement at The Las Vegas Venetian Resort went on sale Friday (March 11) and caused a royal frenzy to say the least.
Merely hours after tix for the 5-night residency were up for grabs (some priced as high as $1,000), they were snapped by eager fans looking to catch a glimpse of the legendary diva crooning out her biggest hits ‘Sweet Love,’ ‘Just Because,’ ‘Giving You the Best That I Got,’ and more this spring.
Once disappointed hopeful buyers took to Twitter in droves to complain about being too late to the purchasing party, Baker reassured them she would be keeping her promise of expanding the residency run to accommodate more concertgoers.
