Published: Wednesday 30th Mar 2022 by Ryan

With the 2022 GRAMMY Awards less than a week away, excitement continues to build for the event.

Every field is jam-packed with the who’s who in the music industry. Take for example the Song Of The Year category. Ed Sheeran, Brandi Carlile, Olivia Rodrigo, Alicia Keys & H.E.R., Billie Eilish, Doja Cat & SZA, Silk Sonic, Lil Nas X, and Justin Bieber, are all nominated.

But who will win and who should win?

Join us below to find out…

Who will win: Olivia Rodrigo – ‘Drivers License’

Like a flash of lightning, Rodrigo’s debut single stormed out of nowhere and took over the charts when it debuted at #1 early last year. Receiving heaping amounts of critical-acclaim, the song has been listed has having the third best bridge of the 21st century by Billboard; therefore, it is safe to say that this is the leading contender for Song of the Year.

Who should win: Olivia Rodrigo – ‘Drivers License’

Love it or hate it, ‘Drivers License’ was THE MOMENT last year, introducing the public to one of the world’s biggest stars. Showing complexity and emotional layers to not only teenage emotions, but those of adults as well, ‘Drivers License’ saw immediate comparisons to her idol Taylor Swift. With this one single, Rodrigo proved that she could very well reach Swiftian heights one day as well.

Dark Horse: Silk Sonic – ‘Leave The Door Open’

This one is a tough one to call as to who the dark horse could be. The current battle for this position is between Billie Eilish’s ‘Happier Than Ever’ and Silk Sonic’s ‘Leave The Door Open.’ Both of their album’s received identical critical-acclaim, however, it seems more likely Silk Sonic will win. The first reason they will win is that ‘Leave The Door Open’ has that throwback sound that GRAMMY voters love. Moreover, the throwback sound complemented with a modern artist is a recipe that both younger and older can get on board with. Furthermore, it saw more chart success than ‘Happier Than Ever,’ which should help bolster its chances some.
