Kanye West’s ‘Donda 2’ Deemed Ineligible for Billboard Charts

Published: Tuesday 8th Mar 2022 by Ryan

Kanye West‘s ‘Donda 2’ was notably absent from the charts this week.

Now, it has been revealed why the project cannot be seen.

More details below…

According to Billboard, because the project is only available via his Stem Player, it is in breach of the Billboard charts’ merchandise bundle policy, which disqualifies albums that come with merch.

“Since the Stem Player is a fairly new concept, however, people familiar with the matter from both Billboard and MRC say they plan to continue to monitor its evolution as it relates to chart eligibility.”

Despite this, West claims that the launch of his album on the device has been successful, claiming that he made over $1.3 million in sales after announcing that ‘Donda 2’ would only be available on the device.

However, in a new update to the device, those who purchased one will now be able to upload ‘Donda 2’ tracks to their phones and computers.

The original ‘Donda’ was a success for West. The project debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, where it scored the biggest opening for a project released in 2021 at that time. It would later be bested by Drake‘s ‘Certified Lover Boy,’ Taylor Swift‘s ‘Red (Taylor’s Version),’ and Adele‘s ’30.’

They just made up that rule..and that rule needs to be changed as we go on to the future. As other music artists including kanye wants to control how their music is being played..his donda album still can be heard on free sites like YouTube like his music videos. Billboard gotta change the outdated rule

it makes PERFECT SENSE. They stopped counting bundled sales, and since you have to buy STEM, then it’s a bundle….

That wont take away from how bad or good the album is. I’m just gonna assume it’s BAD… b/c that first donda mess sounded like and ENTIRE INTRO…. like none of the songs sounded like they were complete.

    Billboard is a f****** joke

They change rules whenever they f***** up. They lost all respect from me after Lady Gaga released Born This Way for a dollar and topped the charts. You can’t give out certifications and then change them right after. F****** ridiculous

this rule was made years ago lol…and billboard doesn’t certify anything

  4. Dumb b**** March 8, 2022

Billboard lost all its credibility when they f***** over “Blackout.” How you ask? Because the Eagles released a 2disc record and they counted each record as 2 sales so last minute they took it back from Britney. F****** losers
