Lizzo has long kept it candid when it comes to her journey in music.
And, with her new album ‘Special’ officially announced, the stage blazer is being all sorts of frank about its creation process.
The LP’s campaign launched with last summer’s ‘Rumors’ featuring Cardi B and received a fresh bolt of lightning courtesy of the star’s new single ‘About Damn Time.’
Hot on the promotional trail for both the track and its housing LP, Lizzo revealed that the latter was switched up very recently.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight Canada, the Houston native said:
“Ok, here’s the thing. I changed the album last minute. I took off a lot of songs that didn’t match this new vibe that I’m in. Especially after writing ‘About Damn Time.’ I wrote [the song] two months ago and I think I had an epiphany that like: ‘oh, I only want songs that on a frequency of love.’ Only about love. And also bangers. I wanted to make Lizzo bangers again. So, even if it’s a ballad…it bangs! Every song is memorable and delicious and you’re gonna want to hear it again and again and again.”

‘Special’ will be released on July 15 via Atlantic Records.

This new generation sucks at promoting albums. I wish they would have their albums ready to release by the time the first single drops. You’re going to flop regardless of how long you wait.

Used to be you had to buy the album to hear it for the first time….but nowadays they wanna announce an announcement…at the announcement they announce a song… then a promo phot shoot….then a track list…. then a visual video….then the actual video….

She’s so unoriginal. That’s hers and so many others artist’s problem. They follow trends too much! Disco has been done before, and it’s clearly not her lane.
The issue is that she’s now just seen as novelty and a good time girl that takes away from any talent she has. This song could’ve been better lyrically are construction wise, but she went the same route that she did when she debut, so no growth. Give us something mature and with more of a direction.
If she gained another 100 lbs, it would be at hit!
Flop. Her new video has been out for a day and doesn’t even have 1m views. Her antics turned a lot of people off!
I’ve never taken her seriously, her music is very comedic. She’s like a one hit wonder with more than one hit, waiting for her 15 minutes to be up.
What makes her so special? She’s like typical Black fat woman that y’all seen in wal mart all the time.
