Future has flown straight in at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his latest single ‘Wait For U.’
Full story below…
The track, which is housed on the rapper’s new album ‘I Never Liked You,’ features Drake and Nigerian chanteuse Tems. Both of whom nab their tenth and first chart-toppers respectively.
For Future, ‘Wait’ becomes his second #1 on the coveted count. Interestingly, his only other track to achieve the feat was the Drake-led ‘Way 2 Sexy’ – which also launched in pole position last September.
The #1 launch of ‘Wait’ sees Tems make history by becoming only the second Nigerian-born artist to hit the top spot of the Hot 100 in its history. Her ‘Essence’ collaborator Wizkid serves as the first following his appearance on Drake’s ‘One Dance’ in 2016.
Furthermore, Future joins Drizzy as the only Hip-Hop artist in history to debut a song and album at #1 on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously after hit #1 on the Billboard 200.
So, how did the song manage the feat? Here are how the numbers stack up:
- 40.2 million streams
- 7.9 million all-format radio
- 6,400 digital downloads
Congrats.
