Chris Brown is dancing his way across the promotional circuit for his newly released album, ‘Breezy.’And his latest stop was Drink Champs with Norega.
As is to be expected from the popular show, the conversational discourse was wide-ranging and saw Brown dish on his new project, longevity in the music industry, and comparisons to his idol Michael Jackson.
One of the central topics was a possible VERZUZ battle with Usher; a battle many have been calling for ever since the platform emerged.

Unpacking his stance about doing VERZUZ (in general), C. Breezy said:
“Me doing that [at this stage of my career] would be like saying “I’m about to hang it up.”
When further probed about battling with Ush, the 33-year-old said:
“It only makes sense (that it’d be against him), but it’s got to make more sense. I would want to celebrate him in his light just as much as celebrating myself. I can’t act like he ain’t a pioneer as well. That’s Usher. I think it would be something good for the fans. But it would just have to make sense for both of us. Because I got hella songs. That’s all I can say. Too many damn songs.”

Chris has a huge catalogue but it still isn’t touching Ushers. Don’t get me started on the vocals (especially live) and stage showmanship. Usher. Quality over quantity, Usher wins.
Usher catalogue is more Quality tho but as someone said Trey Songz vs Chris Brown would make more sense.
That match up doesn’t make any sense actually. They’re from two different generations. Chris was just debuting as Confessions was smashing around the world. Usher’s peers are Genuwine and SIsqo and we all know those wouldn’t be even match ups.

Usher is no bigger than Alicia, Kirk Franklin and Babyface who have all done Verzuz and have as much (if not more) chart presence as Usher. Even Gladys and Patti did it, so I don’t think Verzuz should be out of the realm of consideration.

You dropped Alicia from the conversation, so apparently we agree there. Kirk toured with Long Live Love a few years before Usher opened in Vegas and now he’s out on another successful run. He and Usher released their first projects around the same time. Do you know how hard it is to maintain a successful career in Gospel music, let alone the number of years that Kirk has? The fact that Kirk is able to do what he does today is a clear sign of his impact and presence in the music industry. In any music show recognizing gospel and r&b together, you don’t see Usher without also seeing Kirk. Give that man some respect.
And come back and tell me who has the most Grammys out of the artists I listed.

I stand by what I said: if Kirk, Alicia and Babyface can do Verzuz so can Usher, and that’s not meant to be an insult. Usher has set records and so have the others. Kirk, Alicia and Babyface are also songwriters and producers who have worked for other artists and done plenty, collectively, to shape what we hear. They deserve just as much credit as Usher in terms of making an impact. If you don’t believe that, I would ask you to check your biases.

Alicia Keys had a great 9 year run of huge success but since 2010 her career has went downhill. Babyface and kirk Franklin are great but neither have ever been a GLOBAL SUPERSTAR like Usher has.
Between 1997-2012 Usher was literally the biggest and most successful male R&B/Pop artist in the world. Outselling white mainstream Rock bands and white female Pop stars. While also out performing them on the charts.

Usher has more number one songs on every chart and more classic timeless hits. Only 3 male solo artist have more Billboard Hot 100 #1’s than Usher: Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Elvis. Meanwhile Chris hasn’t had a Hot 100 #1 since 2007. Usher is by faaaarrrrr the better singer and live performer. If Usher and Chris did a Versus Chris would sound worse than Omarion and Usher would sound even better than Mario.
You keep naming Lil Wayne as being too big for verzuz, but lil wayne did make a guest appearance for 3:6 Mafias song bands a make her dance. Chaka Kahn is another HUGE star who did it.

Yeah you got plenty of tunes, but Usher has more. And you may be well known to the Public, than Usher, but only for mostly the wrong reasons, not your catalogue of Hits. Being with certain people (Rihanna) may have also made you more mainstream, but that’s about it. You are talented for sure, but so is Usher. It would be good to see this take place.
