After not hearing his name called at the announcement of the 2022 BET Awards nominees, ‘Call Me By Your Name’ hitmaker Lil Nas X is calling out the network for the diss.
Lil Nas X (born Montero Hill) may have scored three of the last year’s biggest hits (‘Name,’ ‘Industry Baby,’ and ‘That’s What I Want’), but the 23-year-old – just months after being majorly snubbed at the GRAMMYs – will not be seeing those tunes celebrated at this year’s BET Awards as he was omitted from the nominations’ tally.
“Thank you BET Awards. An outstanding zero nominations again,” he tweeted sarcastically after the show’s June 1 nominee announcement.
X – who has performed at the cermony in the past – is no stranger to being snubbed as his 2019 hit ‘Old Town Road,’ the longest-running #1 hit in music history, also went without a trophy from BET.
In a series of deleted tweets, Hill suggested the reason for that is deeper than his music.
“doesn’t even have to be me nominated,” the openly gay rapper-singer shared. “i just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible.”
As of time reported, the show’s organizers have not responded to LNX’s remarks.
The 2022 BET Awards, hosted by Academy and EMMY-Award nominated actress Taraji P. Henson, will air live June 26 from from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Sir, you’re not one of the black gay ppl who had to work hard. If I remember correctly, everything has been handed to you since OTR. You weren’t nominated for a BET award, so what? The black community doesn’t find it cute when a straight man can’t sing but does an eight count on cue, so you’re not special!
Nonsense.
He did work hard for them.
He had to capitalize on OTR.
Chris Brown is still nominated, and there’s nothing special anymore either, but I bet he was good at giving whatever the hell an “eight count” is in 2009.
Lil Nas X deserves nominations.
He didn’t work hard. He tried to use shock value for attention to plaster over how mediocre the music is. I haven’t heard of a single person bumping a Lil Nas X album…
He also used his victim cards – being black and being gay – at his disposal. Just like he’s doing here.
The sense of entitlement! And the shamelessness of showing it publicly! I can’t 🤦🏽♀️ It’s giving Normani teas – begging for a spot!
Gurl shut the hell up
No counter-argument? Didn’t think so.
“Ooh I’m black! Ooh I’m gay! So you have to give me whatever I want or you’re racist and homophobic!”
The world at the moment is just sickening.
Basically lol.
As huge as those songs were, he got snubbed. Common sense is gone
The black community doesn’t f*** with Lil Naw X. Not because he’s gay either, but because he’s a corny attention seeking troll who can’t sing or rap or whatever it is that he does. Jason Derulo and FloRida were constantly snubbed too. Oh well!
Exactly. This kid does not represent black gay culture, he is a PARODY of black gay culture, and BET peeped his game. So he needs to have several seats and come up with a new gimmick.
Guy… he was nominated for TWO BET Hip-Hop Awards last year!

That song is OLD now, I can see why BET skipped over it this year for the BET Awards… This is NOT a story.
You clicked this story though
Won’t be watching
And your view is important because…?
Because you return to every one of my comments like the field SLÁVE you are 😋
I run this s*** b****
No, I run YOU, b****.
You don’t run nothing but your mouth which is usually full of SHIIIT anyway. Now go sit your slow ass dow somewhere b****👏🏽
i don’t necessarily care for his music, but he’s not wrong. he’s one of the biggest contemporary artists right now and it’s stupid that BET chooses to ignore his accomplishments.
Especially after he performed last year, it’s a slap
