Fresh off the release of her latest single, ‘Catch Me In The Air,’ Rina Sawayama is now revealing that she wrote the song with someone else in mind.

That person? None other than Gwen Stefani.

More details below…

Taking to TikTok, she gave some insight into the writing process of this song. She reveals that she started writing the song with Oscar Scheller and Gracey in 2020 during one of the first in person writing sessions, however, all of them were nervous.

As a result, they couldn’t come up with anything, so they decided to write the song as if it was intended for someone else and not Sawayama. That person was Stefani.

“So we wrote it as though we were pitching to Gwen Stefani, who was coming back with a single at a the time. We weren’t thinking go pitching it to her, but just more a method to help get me out of my head.”
