Drake sprung a surprise on fans yesterday (June 17) with the release of his seventh studio album, ‘Honestly, Nevermind.’
Perhaps most surprising, however, was the fact that the unexpected LP saw the Canada-born titan delve deep into Dance music.
With the response thus far being potently polarizing, what are LP’s commercial prospects looking like?
The first-week sales predictions are in and bring with them the answer.
Full story below…
Per Hits Daily Double, Drizzy’s dalliance with Dance is set to premiere with:
210,000-230,000
While the range will almost certainly nab Drake the top spot on the Billboard 200, the numbers unavoidably pale in comparison to the gargantuan sums the rapper is renowned for selling.
Indeed, the current range puts the album on track to open with the smallest sum of any of the MC’s full-length solo efforts. Instead, its launch performance is on par with that of the ‘Dark Lane Demo Tape’ mixtape – which premiered with 223,000 in 2020.
Much like the genre switch-up, the numbers will no doubt have tongues wagging. Still, as the age-old adage goes: it’s not always how you start, but where you finish.
With that, do you see ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ enjoying a long, successful chart run? As ever, let us know…
I love the album honestly. Way better than his last few projects.

I agree
Flop
That’s all expected more
I predicted 250K SPS. Spoke too soon.
Didn’t like this one too much, most of it sounded like mid runway music.
I can appreciate him trying new sounds but a lot of things needed tweaking before being released
Drake released the album in time for Pride Month. 💅
These are not new sounds. Typical Drake melodies over club/house beats. He’s also sampled house records plenty of times. Most of the songs woulda sound better if someone else sang them honestly.
💯
Decent for this type of album I guess
I mean these are great numbers for an album announced just hours prior to release. Artists who do heavy promotion for months aren’t even cracking 50k so this is very commendable. However I must say Drakes sound has become tired. Certified Lover Boy was boring and forgettable. He needs some new creatives on his team to assist with vocal arrangement and production. You can almost always predict how a Drake melody will sound.
Terrible. He’s been on a rapid decline musically since IYRTITL.
He needs to leave the house music to Azealia. She’s one of the few artists who can pull off house/rap together.
He needs to stay in his lane and stop trying to experiment with different sounds because it doesn’t work for him.
He couldn’t call up KAYTRANADA and get his help? The man is king of his genre and knows how to produce rap/house well. It doesn’t help that his fans hype him up as some “rap God” and the industry kisses his ass. He doesn’t need to be good because people still consume the trash he releases
For a surprise album just announced less than 24hrs ago, this is pretty outstanding. A lot of artists who’ve been promoting for months in advance aren’t even coming close to these numbers. (Camicky The Clown) 🤡
Hunnie, still better than a p e m a n I with zero promotion and zero album 💅🏾 We love to see it🖕🏿
The numbers reflect the quality – there’s no proper melody to any of the songs, him whining over basic
I applaud Drake for helping to remove the doldrums from contemporary rap music. He got my coin for this one, but I left CLB in the bin…
Issa flop
Drake made an album for all of the fàgs that have prolapsed anuses.
This is the perfect audience 🤭
You should’ve known better💅🏾 How’s your s h I t hole doing? Feel burning when you taking a s h I t 💩
