Chart Check [Hot 100]: Drake Now Has Most Top 5 Hits In History / Becomes First Act to Boast 100 Top 20 Hits

Published: Saturday 20th Aug 2022 by Rashad

Drake continues his unprecedented domination of Billboard.

In the 13 years since the release of the 2009 ‘So Far Gone’ mixtape that’s credited with launching his career, the Canadian emcee has managed to rack up the most impressive Hot 100 run of any artist ever.

Among the highlights are most #1 hits among rappers (11), most weeks at #1 among rappers (54), most #2-peaking singles (7), most top 10 singles (59), most #1 debuts (7), most top 40 entries (158), and most appearances on the chart overall (277).

As if the aforementioned was not enough, the arrival of his 277th entry – as supporting act on DJ Khaled‘s latest single ‘Staying Alive’ (also featuring Lil Baby) – was accompanied by its own slew of history-making stats this week.

Look inside to see them.

With its #5 premiere on the refreshed Hot 100, ‘Staying Alive’ comes as Drizzy’s 30th top 5 hit and makes him the artist with the most top 5 hits in the Billboard Hot 100’s 64-year history.  The previous record-holders were The Beatles, who owned 29 top 5 hits (their last was 1970’s ‘The Long and Winding Road’).

See the numbers that powered the Khaled/Drake/Baby placement.

  • Streaming:  23.5 million U.S.-based streams
  • Radio Airplay:  10.1 million audience impressions
  • Digital Downloads: 5,000 U.S.-based sales

That’s not all, folks.

‘Staying Alive’ not only extends the 35-year-old’s record for the most top 10s, top 20s, top 40s, and overall Hot 100 entries in the chart’s 64-year history, but it also makes him the first artist to ever earn 100 top 20 hits on the hitlist.

Drake is so overrated it’s Scary 😂 I can only name 5 good songs, 2Séxy being my new fav, (ComeSeeMe being 2nd). Plus hes never made an actual ALBUM his entire career.

(Only artist more overrated today is Madonna Sza and summerwalker)

Chris Brown should be in Drakes seat.

It is interesting, how many of thousands of his ‘hits’ can general public name lol?
I actually can recall Hotline Bling, One Dance, God’s Work and several collabs with Rihanna.
