Demi Lovato‘s return to her Rock roots has not only garnered critical acclaim but is well on the way to seeing that fanfare reflected commercially if the refreshed Billboard 200 is anything to judge by.
Look inside to see how her eighth studio album, the August 19-released ‘HOLY FVCK,’ fared this week against industry analyst predictions.
Demi Lovato’s ‘Holy FVCK’
First-Week Sales (SPS): 33,000 units
Billboard 200 Debut: #7
Coming as the week’s highest debut on the Billboard 200, Lovato’s latest landed at #7 with total sales of 33,000 units. The ‘Skin of My Teeth’-led set fared even better on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Alternative Albums charts where it premiered at #1 on each.
Marking her eighth consecutive top 10 album placement on the Billboard 200, the ‘HOLY’ opening continues her top 10 streak making her one of few artists to see their first 8 albums debut in the chart region. It’s also worth noting Demi is in an exclusive club of female artists who can boast nabbing a top 10 placement on the hitlist over three decades as her first mention on the Billboard 200 came with #2 listing of ‘Don’t Forget’ – her 2008 debut album.
The Pop-Rock diva’s wins don’t stop there.
‘HOLY’ may have sent its first two singles – ‘Teeth’ and ‘Substance‘ – to the top 40 of the Rock charts, but the two failed to rock the Hot 100. Its third swing at bat, the August 19-released ’29,’ fared much better as it debuted at #96 on this week’s refreshed singles chart. The 36th entry of her career, ’29’ comes as this era’s first Hot 100 placement.
