As Bey fans continue to enjoy the jams listed aboard the diva’s latest album ‘Renaissance,’ Diane – who has collaborated with the songstress before on the ‘4’ hit ‘I Was Here’ – took to the social media platform Monday (August 1) to say:
“How can there be 24 writers on a song?”
The timely tweet is believed to refer to the LP’s tune ‘Alien Superstar,’ which has – you guessed it – exactly 24 writers.
Among contributors to the cut is the Destiny’s Child alum’s longtime collaborator The Dream, who took Warren to task in the diva’s defense.
Between the drags from The Dream and #Beyhive (to reinforce it), Diane quickly took to Twitter to retreat.

Because they’re covering their asses by crediting samples which includes writers and producers. When one song has multiple samples/interpolations everyone must be credited or risk the possibility of litigation. Ask Ed Sheeran, Robin Thicke and many others.

The Dream used race to persuade people’s opinion on the issue when in actuality his words don’t support the truth. Of the 24 credited songwriters for “Alien Superstar”, only a handful have something to do with the original works that are sampled in the song. So contrary to what The Dream and so many fans are saying, this has nothing to do with Beyonce/The Dream using a bunch of samples and having to credit all of the writers & producers involved. Diane’s question is about the legitimacy of so many credits on one song. It’s like Beyonce reached out to a list of artists and as long as they pressed a button or hummed a note they got a credit. What that does is it reduces the artform and that’s what Diane is alluding to, but if you believe Beyonce/The Dream, you’ll think it’s about this rebirth nonsense.
Oh please, back in the day many people who contributed to songs didn’t get credited! They were paid for their contributions out of pocket, but weren’t added to the credits and didn’t receive royalties….Diane HAS to know this!
