Nicki Minaj fans, affectionately called #Barbz, may still be celebrating the arrival of her historic Hot 100 #1 hit ‘Super Freaky Girl’ this week (as we reported here), but there’s one who they shouldn’t expect to join the chorus: media mogul Jason Lee.
Having made no secret of his disdain for the GRAMMY nominee over the years, that antipathy was reiterated in earnest on the most recent episode of his ‘Gagging with Jason Lee’ podcast (August 23).

During the ‘Deep Dive’ segment of the podcast, Lee kicked off his rant against Nicki by stating he wasn’t ‘hating on her’ but that it’s hard to be fair to someone he doesn’t believe ‘is a good person.’ When not insinuating she married Kenneth Petty for “protection” because she would get “beat up by the girls she talking sh*t about,” Jason homed in on the 39-year-old rapper’s age.
“Nicki Minaj has been in the game for 15 years and it seems as if the desperation of being somebody at the top is so bad that she is grappling at it like a stripper with greasy fingers in the strip club. She can’t hold on to it,” he started.
Crediting her team for her recent successes. Lee maintains she is a “f*cking hater” and pointed out “it took [her] to build a whole teenage career [15 years] just to get a number 1 by herself.” That’s not the only dig he made at her age.
“It’s kids getting their driver’s licenses now that were born when you started, and you didn’t get a [solo] #1 until they got their driver’s license,” Jason said.
He claimed Nicki is “jealous,” “miserable as f*ck,” and “pathetic” due to the successes of younger female rappers Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion as well as Doja Cat and Normani.
“You’re a has-been Nicki. Nothing you put out from this day forward will ever chart #1. You will never see another #1 again. Your career has Stevie Wonder’s eyes…Stevie Wonder can see better than the future sees you having another #1,” he said before sharing, “Because God will not bless miserable ass, hating ass, negative ass people.”
Lee was also sure to address those who would suggest he was being hypocritical for referring to Nick’s age so much given that he is older than her.
“To be in the rap game, you’re an old woman. You’re 39-years-old,” he said. “Yes, I’m 45, but I look better than your career at this point.”
Knowing her faithful #Barbz would come to her defense after his rant, Jason relayed a message to them as well.
“You have a terrorist group as a fan base and all they do is sit up and suck their thumbs and hang on your p*ssy all day long,” he said. “You’re like the Kim Jong-un of Rap. You launch missiles at every female that you’re threatened by.”
