Offset SUES Record Label Amid Migos Split Murmurs

Offset has filed a lawsuit – against his own record label.

Find out why after the jump…

As unaddressed rumors of a rift within Migos intensify, TMZ report that the MC is taking his label Quality Control to court.

Interestingly, the rapper’s Migos deal with the imprint remains intact (for now). However, the issue at hand relates to his solo music.

Per the suit, Offset is alleging that QC is ignoring a deal they made in January last year.

See, he asserts that he negotiated a solo deal directly with Motown (Migos’ joint distributor); a move that saw QC “paid handsomely” for him to secure his artist rights.

Yet, the 30-year-old is saying that QC is now not honoring the deal and claiming his newly released music (such as the Baby Keem-produced ‘54321’) as its own. The suit calls the label’s action “hostile.”

It appears Offset is seeking to have all material released since January 2021 to this point officially deemed unaffiliated with QC.

Interestingly, he’s planning to release another new track named ‘Code’ with MoneyBaggYo this week. As such, it’ll be intriguing to see if the legal play has any bearing on those plans.

Similarly, one has to wonder what the court wrangle means for the future of Migos. Because, even though the group’s deal with QC isn’t in question, the plausibility of pressing forward with the current drama is undoubtedly up for debate.
