Timbaland & Swizz Beatz Sue Triller For $28M Over Missing VERZUZ Payments

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz may have turned the musical battleground VERZUZ into a virtual sensation over the pandemic, but if they have their way it’s soon to be them versus Triller in a courtroom.

Look inside to see why they say it’s time for the social media platform to face the music.

On Tuesday (August 16), reports surfaced Tim and Swizz sued Triller for breach of contract, alleging the Web-based platform owes them more than $28 million.

According to the lawsuit, Triller made the first two scheduled payments but failed to make the last two.  Because of this Timbaland and Swizz Beatz entered into a settlement agreement and payment plan with Triller in February – an agreement that would see the latter pay the VERZUZ founders $9 million each no later than March 17 and follow with payments of $500,000 each on the first of the month for 10 months.  The lawsuit alleges Triller not only defaulted on the agreement again, but also ignored notices demanding payment.

Tim and Swizz are seeking compensatory damages of $28,095,000.  What’s more, they’re also looking for Triller to cover their attorneys’ fees and costs as well as any pre-judgment interest.

At writing, Triller has not issued a statement on the matter.

Launched in 2020 as a virtual competition between some of music’s biggest stars, VERZUZ gained wild popularity thanks to participation from chart-toppers and legends like Alicia Keys, John Legend, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Brandy, Monica, and many more.

First live-streamed on Instagram, Triller acquired VERZUZ in March 2021 (as we reported here) in a deal that’s supposed to have paid Tim and Swizz in four installments:  the first at the close of the deal, another after that, one on the first anniversary of the deal, and the final on the second anniversary of the deal.

They f***** up by selling out to Triller. Who uses Triller anyway??????????? I doubt they have $28 million dollars to give. Watch them file for bankruptcy.

We warned them not to sell the culture. But like their late 90’s & 2000’s counterparts, money comes before preservation.

Triller is beyond dead. I deleted it within a week. Nobody is active at all.
