Hot 100: Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Ties All-Time Record for Longest-Running #1 By a Solo Male

Published: Monday 19th Sep 2022 by Rashad

For the last 14 weeks, ‘As It Was’ – the megahit from Harry Styles’ #1 album ‘Harry’s House’ – has taken residence atop the Hot 100.

Penciled in history books for being the longest-running solo male #1 single this decade when it clocked its 12th week at the chart’s summit, last week it logged its 13th print at the top and became the longest-running solo male song of the century.

Now, the Kid Harpoon-helmed hit has its sights set on the all-time record.

Monday (September 19), the refreshed Billboard Hot 100 revealed ‘As It Was’ remained as it was last week and the 12 weeks before that:  at #1.  Here are the numbers that powered the stay.

  • Streaming:  14.4 million streams
  • Digital Download: 3000 units
  • Radio Airplay: 68.2 million radio airplay audience impressions

Those figures not only helped secure Styles’ 14th week at #1 – his longest-running to date – but also helped him tie Elton John’s 1997 classic ‘Candle in the Wind’ for the record of lengthiest stay at the chart’s summit among solo males.

Among all acts, only a handful can say they have enjoyed a reign as long or longer. See the full list below.

I honestly don’t get the appeal either. It sounds like music you’ll hear playing in the store. The song isn’t bad but it doesn’t really grab ur attention.

Albino Splice looking FLOP🤮He’ll never be a true legend like MJ and those greasy honkey snowapes can keep dreaming. All that white privilege still can’t get him the legendary status like Michael or talents like Zayne 💯

@No lies detected. Let me start by fixing your grammar for you, as it is clear that you are an uneducated black house s****.

“Albino Splice looking FLOP🤮He’ll never be a true legend like MJord those greasy honky snow apes, so they can keep dreaming. Even with all of his white privilege, he will never achieve the legendary status of Michael or the talent of Zayne.”

Now that’s over with, let me get to my point. Without white privilege, slavery would have never been abolished. The first nations to abolish slavery were the British and a white privilege man named William Wilberforce. White privilege naval men were on the high seas trying to stop slavery. Because the African kings were rounding up their own people, they had them in cages waiting on the beaches to be sold.

What behooved is how lazy or stupid black people were that they couldn’t even free themselves from being slaves for hundreds of years.
