Katy Perry, Kesha Among Artists Under Fire For Jeffrey Dahmer Lyrics in Wake of Popular Netflix Series

Published: Tuesday 27th Sep 2022 by Rashad

Nearly 10 years after its release, Katy Perry‘s 2013 chart-topper – ‘Dark Horse’ – has ridden into another storm of controversy thanks to lyrics housed in the portion rapped by its feature, Juicy J.

Although EMMY Award-winning actor Evan Peters continues to win praise for his transformation into the 80’s serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer aboard Netflix’s September 21-released mini-series ‘Dahmer,’ the gruesomeness of the latter’s crimes – as he was arrested in 1991 – is being placed front-and-center for an entire new generation via the gory show.

Because of this, some music lovers have taken to social media to slam work like ‘Horse’ that referenced Dahmer’s acts in a positive or minimized light.

In Perry’s tune, found aboard her chart-topping album ‘Prism,’ Juicy utters: “She’s a beast/ I call her Karma/ She eats your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer.”  Now, people are calling for her to take accountability for the insensitive line.

Katy’s not the only Pop diva battling backlash due to a Dahmer reference.  Kesha, thanks to lyrics found inside her 2010 tune ‘Cannibal,’ is also under fire for comparing herself to Jeffrey.

“I want your liver on a platter / Use your finger to stir my tea / And for dessert I’ll suck your teeth / Be too sweet and you’ll be a goner / Yeah, I’ll pull a Jeffrey Dahmer,” she croons on tune from her EP of the same name.

As a result, she landed on the radar of critics as well – with some even calling for ‘Cannibal’ and ‘Dark Horse’ to be pulled from airwaves.

At writing, Kesha nor Katy have responded to the hoopla.

Your thoughts?

Leave Kesha💜 and Katy alone. It’s used for f*cking song lyrics. If you have a problem with the song simply don’t listen to it. Don’t trash talk them online for not be super sensitive little B*tches like yourselves

So all of a sudden it’s a problem since a popular series debuted on Netflix? Dahmer’s first victim was over 40 years ago. He’s been dead for almost 30 years. Pop culture (unfortunately) has been referencing him for over 3 decades. This generation is full of wimps. Get the f*** over it.

Yall need to get a life. Jeffrey Dahmers stuff happened 40 years ago if you are just now hearing about him you need to be doing something other then bashing song lyrics.. LEARN SOMETHING EDUCATIONAL!!! I love kesha and Katy and both of these songs are in all of my Playlist. My only problem with them is it’s been 10 years??!!! I feel old. Lol

Simply unacceptable. I have already signed some petitions to have these songs removed from streaming services and would suggest YOU do the same.

Good God, what is wrong with people these days? I consider myself a sensitive person but this? Who will get canceled next? Bey & Jay-Z? Because you know, Bonnie & Clyde were robbers and mass murderers.
