Having already granted her first GRAMMYs, milestone placements on the Hot 100, and her first Gold plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Jazmine Sullivan‘s ‘Heaux Tales’ era – which supports the January 2021-released EP of the same name – is undoubtedly the most successful of her nearly 15-year career.
And the wins just keep coming.
Tuesday (September 6), the RIAA took to press to reveal ‘Tales’ penned yet another chapter in its success story. See details inside.
Her first body of work since the 2016 studio album ‘Reality Show,’ Sullivan’s ‘Tales’ was recently elevated to a Gold certification at the RIAA. The measure denotes sales equivalence of 500,000 in the United States alone.
Following her debut album, 2008’s ‘Fearless,’ ‘Tales’ is only the R&B diva’s second project to be certified as high.
Featuring the critically acclaimed tunes ‘Pick Up Your Feelings,’ ‘On It’ (featuring Ari Lennox), ‘Girl Like Me’ (featuring H.E.R.), and ‘Lost One,’ the EP opened at #4 on the Billboard 200 at the height of its popularity – marking the highest rung she’s reached on that tally to date.
Beyond its commercial faring, ‘Tales’ garnered massive critical acclaim as it’s listed as one of the best 50 albums of 2021 by ‘TIME,’ ‘NPR,’ ‘Rolling Stones,’ ‘Billboard’ magazine, and other top music industry publications and tastemakers.
