‘Talk to Me’ hitmaker Tory Lanez can expect to be talking to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) soon for his role in an alleged attack on R&B singer August Alsina.
As we reported here, Alsina took to the net to say he was assaulted by the “receding haired leprechaun” backstage at a concert over the weekend and uploaded bloodied photos of himself as proof of the altercation.
When news began to circulate about the fight, which is rumored to stem from beef between the performers regarding comments Tory allegedly made about August’s Jada Pinkett-Smith “entanglement,” the Canadian rapper (born Daystar Peterson) took to social media to deny the claims – later doubling down on the assertion via an interview with DJ Akademiks Sunday (September 18).
“I don’t even know what this kid is talking about, brother,” he told DJ before saying, “…I don’t know if he’s doing promo. I don’t know what that n*gga is talking about, brother.”
Not even a day later, video footage surfaced that suggests a story different from that of Lanez’ – a circumstance that’s caught the attention of the LAPD.
Monday (September 19), footage landed on the Web that seemingly corroborates Alsina’s claims that he was assaulted by Tory for refusing to shake his hand. One onlooker is even heard telling the rapper, “Don’t do it…you already shot Megan [Thee Stallion],” while another said, “You knocked his a** out.”
If proven to be true, the incident could spell trouble for Lanez who is already on the radar of the LAPD for allegedly shooting Stallion in the foot in the Hollywood Hills.
Taking to Billboard, the authorities revealed they are “aware of the allegations that the defendant attacked artist August Alsina and are investigating these claims” – allegations they are reportedly taking seriously and plan to “thoroughly examine.”
The quote from the LAPD came not long before it was reported Peterson will no longer be apart of the “Fall Back In Love Comedy & Music Jam” due to the scrap with Alsina (according to the tour’s creator Rip Michaels). Supporting August’s claims of attack, Michaels said the ‘I Luv This Sh*t’ singer had to miss a show the day after the incident due to the assault.
“There was no fight,” Michaels said. “[August] was sucker punched by Tory Lanez.”
