Christina Aguilera‘s already overflowing awards’ mantel welcomed a new addition Thursday (September 29) as the Pop diva was on hand at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards to accept the Spirit of Hope Award.
Established in 1996 in memory of Tejano Music Queen Selena Quintanilla, the award honors the humanitarian and philanthropic efforts of artists who are making impacts in- and outside of the music industry.
When not rocking the stage with a spirited live rendition of ‘La Reina,’ a tune found aboard her Spanish-language album ‘Aguilera,’ the 41-year-old was being presented the trophy by Latin music sensations (and her previous collaborators) Ozuna and Becky G.

For someone who’s half latina and supposedly heard Spanish while growing up, her pronunciation is quite horrible.
And besides « muchas gracias » she couldn’t drop any line in her speech in Spanish ? I know Americans are quite ignorant when it comes to foreign languages and have the reputation to make zero effort… but given the occasion, you’d think she would give a damn…
Anyway, no one can deny she has preserved her voice pretty well, she sounds powerful without a doubt.
That being said, her tone is quite « agressive » and I think the performance lacked nuances.
Which is a shame because when you hear her acapella in those masterclasses on YouTube, she clearly know how to use her instrument.
Why did she perform a song that came out a few months ago when she has just released a new one for the last Spanish EP ?!

« B**** » it’s the Latin Billboard Awards. She doesn’t have to do the whole speech in Spanish. But she could drop a few lines. I think it underlines the fact she doesn’t speak it. She phonetically learned her songs and that’s it.
@Diora : I like that song too, I just thought it was surprising regarding the fact she literally dropped a new song and the EP is out in a week.
Bad Bunny is currently on top and speaks about 3 percent English. He has not even tried to do what she is doing, which is sing in another language.

i agree with her choosing LA REINA…. i think it is b yfar THE BEST of all of the songs on these releases.
I live in the D.R., and LA REINA and pa mis muchachas are the only ones i have heard play on the radio… and of those 2, i am sure LA REINA is the most played in latin america
