Did You Miss It? Drake & The Weeknd Snub GRAMMYs By Refusing To Submit Their Solo Music For Consideration

Published: Sunday 23rd Oct 2022 by Rashad

The Weeknd apparently meant it when he vowed to permanently boycott the GRAMMYs after the Recording Academy unceremoniously omitted his blockbuster 2020 album, ‘After Hours,’ from its nominations roster in 2021.

Yes, the uproar that resulted from the omission eventually led to an overhaul of the organization’s voting process, but it appears the update wasn’t enough to satiate the Canadian hitmaker.

What’s more, he’s garnering support from his home country’s favorite Hip-Hop son: Drake.

Details inside.

Ahead of the November 15 announcement of the 2023 GRAMMY nominees, Drizzy and The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) have not submitted their solo music for consideration by the Academy.  At the time of this report no official reason has been provided by either of the stars’ camps.

The move is of particular note as it not only doubles down on their longtime grudges with the organization, but also axes their respective 2022 releases – ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ and ‘Dawn FM’ – from being able to compete in the award show’s R&B, Pop, and/or Rap categories.

Both critically acclaimed sets were previously considered front runners for nods at next year’s ceremony.

At writing, there has been no confirmation on if tunes either of the chart-toppers were featured on will still be in the running though.  If those songs do compete there’s still a chance Drake and Tesfaye could be adding more golden gramophones to their mantels.  As of time reported they are both 4-time GRAMMY winners.

But if Nicki say anything it’s considered as moaning/being a bitter b****. Look how blogs articulate themselves for these men.

Nicki is just a dumb, plastic BİTCH.

Who cares? Taylor sold 800k of her new album on the first day, and already is the best selling album of the year

Frank Ocean did it FIRST. Drake’s album was trash and he knew it would win nothing.

They aren’t worried about Drake and Weeknd as long as they have Taylor as their cash cow. It has to hurt their pockets for them to listen and make changes.

Hollyweird IS declining if Taylor Swift is as good as it gets for the Grammy’s.

The Grammys don’t give a singular sh!t these folks aren’t submitting their music.

I commend the both of them. The way they have done Beyoncé so many times and she have carried that show and gave them very high views she should do the same thing until they truly give her deserve covered due awards. The Grammys are to bias even Adele point that out in so many ways

    • Pennie October 24, 2022

Beyonce has like 30 Grammys literally who cares lmao. There are so many other deserving artists who don’t even get nominated for their work. You gotta “play the game” to win a Grammy anyway.

      • Saleem October 24, 2022

Yeah but 27 out of 28 of them are in RnB categories. It’s not like she’s winning the big categories.

They’re both right, the Grammys descriminated the two. Especially the After Hours album!
