Iggy Azalea is full of surprises.
Barely a year after the GRAMMY nominee dropped jaws for announcing her retirement from the music industry, she updated her dedicated fan base (affectionately called #Azaleans) that she had reversed the decision and ultimately cited improved confidence as the reason she wanted to return to the stage and studio.
Now, just a month after promising she was hard-at-work on a new album and supporting solo tour, it’s been revealed her rumored boyfriend – controversial Canadian rapper Tory Lanez – will helm the project.

Amid reports his latest album, ‘Sorry 4 What,’ is poised to be placed in the Billboard 200’s top 10 next week, Lanez took to Twitter Friday (October 7) to announce he will executive produce Azalea’s fourth studio effort. The yet-titled project will serve as the follow-up to her 2021 LP ‘End of an Era.’
“The first FEMALE URBAN ALBUM i will EXECUTIVE PRODUCE will be @IGGYAZALEA Next Album !!!” he tweeted (as seen above). “I’ve been wanting to E.P a FEMALE ARTIST ALBUM for a while.”
And though he expressed excitement over the forthcoming venture, some commenters didn’t exactly share his elation – with one even questioning why Iggy would be the first female act he opted to executive produce.
“She has 65 MILLION RECORDS SOLD …. COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT ….. And went DIAMOND CERTIFIED with her FIRST RECORD …… WHY NOT IGGY?,” he hit back.
At writing there is no tentative release date attached to Iggy’s next album.
The announcement comes just days after Azalea made headlines for gifting Tory a cake in celebration of the release of his latest album ‘Sorry 4 What,’ a gesture that ignited rumors the two are romantically involved. As of time reported neither have confirmed or denied the relationship.
