The Pop Stop: Paramore, Ava Max & More Deliver This Week’s Hidden Gems

Published: Friday 13th Jan 2023 by Ryan

Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.

However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.

This week, we want to highlight cuts from Paramore, Ava Max, Monster X, and Damoyee.

Join us inside…

Paramore – C’est Comme Ca

Punk-pop band Paramore has released their latest single, ‘C’est Comme Ca.’ A peppy, dance-punk tune, the song is complete with a punchy chorus that goes for broke in the song’s climax. Their new album ‘This Is Why’ arrives on February 10 and ‘C’est Comme Ca’ serves as an ample buzz track for what is to come.

Ava Max – One Of Us

Over the course of the last year, Ava Max has been heavily teasing the release of her upcoming sophomore album, ‘Diamonds & Dancefloors.’ One song that was teased was ‘One Of Us,’ a booming, synth-heavy breakup tune with sorrowful lyrics. Rather than ruminating her in pain, Max takes it to the dancefloor, releasing all of the pain in a truly glorious pop song.

Monsta X – Lone Ranger

K-pop supergroup Monsta X has released their latest EP, ‘Reason.’ A darker, sexier side to the group, no song perfectly encapsulates the project’s sound and attitude better than ‘Lone Ranger.’ A throbbing backbeat pairs with a twangy banjo and soaring electric guitar to form one of the group’s best songs to date.

Damoyee – Bicy

Rising singer-songwriter Damoyee has proven herself to be quite the pop-savvy queen over the course of the last year. Her song ‘Little Liar’ showcased a knowledge and talent that even few veterans are able to demonstrate. Now, she is back with her new song ‘Bicy’ (Boy, I’m Craving You). A euphoric, electropop tune that is complete with sensual lyrics, Damoyee once again demonstrates her mastery over the pop genre.
