From decades of activism to electrifying stage shows, Pop Empress Janet Jackson is hailed by many as a revolutionary and forerunner in the modern women’s liberation movement in entertainment – especially as it relates to sexual expression.
Yet, despite garnering praise for pushing the needle forward, Jackson has also earned her fair share of criticism for her music videos and performances over the years.
Surprisingly, the latest of the latter comes from her own family.

Taking to Twitter Monday night (February 27), TJ Jackson – Janet’s nephew – openly discussed his views on sexually-charged live performances by female singers, using his Pop icon aunt as a reference.
When another tweet shared a video of her 2002 racy performance of the ‘All for You’ song ‘Would You Mind?,’ TJ made clear he wasn’t a fan.
“I never liked when she did this in concerts either. I don’t like when females are overly sexualized in art…It degrades and [objectifies] women in a way that’s not healthy,” he said before sharing he prefers her more demure appearance in the 1993 music video for ‘That’s the Way Love Goes.’
Janet fans (affectionately called #JanFam) swarmed to her defense as his comments made their round, causing TJ to hit back by suggesting the rules were different for men.
When quizzed about the sexual performance antics his uncle, King of Pop Michael Jackson, engaged in, TJ stood firm in his original argument.

A woman enjoying séx and/or expressing herself sexually does not make her a h***. The song Would You Mind is Janet expressing how much she’s missed her man and wants to be intimate with him. This isn’t the Middle East or certain parts of Africa where women are circumsized so that, although having to give men séx on demand, can feel no pleasure from it themselves.
I will also add that Janet does is with CLASS! Madonna could take some notes…
