Hot 100: SZA Scores First #1 Hit of Her Career with ‘Kill Bill’

Published: Monday 24th Apr 2023 by Rashad

SZA has officially done it!

Look inside to see the numbers that fueled her monster hit, ‘Kill Bill,’ to becoming the #1 song in America.

Taking to press Monday (April 24), Billboard confirmed industry analysts’ previously reported predictions that ‘Kill Bill’ has finally topped the Hot 100 chart after a lengthy spell at #2.

Originally released January 10, the ‘SOS’ song’s strong performance last week was bolstered by an April 14-released remix with Doja that helped propel it over former chart champion Morgan Wallen and his blockbuster hit, ‘Last Night’ (which has already spent multiple weeks at the tally’s summit).

Here are the figures that powered ‘Bill’s blast to the Pop chart’s pole position.

  • Streaming:  28.3 million U.S.-based streams
  • Digital Downloads: 5,000 sold
  • Radio Airplay: 86.5 million audience impressions

A career first for the songstress (born Solana Rowe), ‘Kill’ comes as her inaugural topper on the hitlist. As for the Doja version, the rapstress may have previously claimed the top spot thanks to 2020’s ‘Say So‘ remix with Nicki Minaj but wasn’t credited for the SZA remix as the original incarnation outperformed the revamp.

This is awesome but I dont really like this song.

She coming for next year’s Grammys

    Song of the year
    Record of the year
    Album of the year
    Best rnb song
    Best rnb performance
    Best music video short form

She’s signed to RCA records normani’s label.
    Shes dark skin
She’s in her 30s (music industry is ageist)

    Talent will always win.

RCA records will continue to focus on sza and doja.
Normani has been put on the back burner. Shelved until further notice

    • YAHSHUA IS COMING April 24, 2023

Which sucks because I feel like Normani had promise. She’s a great dancer and can sing. I guess she just refuses to put the work in. From the outside looking in, it looks like she’d rather sit around and wait on others to reach out to her for stuff. But her brand isn’t big enough. Or maybe her label just does not care enough to push her, idk

      • Clarks0o00ñ April 24, 2023

They have pushed normani so much since 2018,she’s just not sticking.
So many opportunities have been given to her from big name producers, to A list collaborations, to payola and playlisting, award show performances, magazine covers etc

Sza was given all of this.
She worked hard. Releasing catchy relatable music with strong personal lyric and building her fanbase and now she reaping the benefits of her hard work.

Doja also. Catchy songs mixed with her funny relatable personality.

Normani has no personality. Shes dull
She doesn’t know what a hit sounds like
        Her voice is forgettable
The way she dances in not fresh. It’s very dated.
        She copies beyonce
        She believes in Twitter hype
        Shes also lazy and entitled

      • ♠️ What Would 50 cent do♠️ April 24, 2023

Normani can sing better than sza. She cannot write like sza

      • Normani sucks April 24, 2023

Normani is stuck in the 2000’s. She depends heavily on writers and producers. She sings a bunch of songs that were passed around from artist to artist. Nothing personal or relatable. Then she wants to play recluse like Beyonce where she’s nowhere near that level. Listeners today want you to be accessible.

      • Clarks0o00ñ April 24, 2023

Sza wasnt given all of this

  7. RBRT April 24, 2023

‘Sparking the song’s surge, its remix with Doja Cat arrived April 14. (All versions of the song roll up into one chart listing; Doja Cat is not listed on “Kill Bill” on the Hot 100, as the remix did not account for the majority of the song’s overall consumption during the tracking week.)’

So does this mean it’s only a number 1 for SZA?
