RIAA: Post Malone Breaks The Weeknd & Bruno Mars’ Records for Most Diamond Singles

Published: Thursday 20th Apr 2023 by Rashad

In late October 2022, Bruno Mars made history when he became the first artist to be attached to six Diamond-certified songs from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). “Diamond” denotes sales equivalence of 10 million in the United States.

The RIAA only credited five of those songs to the ‘Grenade’ singer’s cumulative count, a historic feat that was matched in February when The Weeknd‘s ‘Earned It’ earned him the fifth Diamond plaque of his career.

As fans of music’s leading crooners waited with bated breath to see who would break the tie, popular rapper Post Malone surprised with an upset Thursday (April 20) when it was announced he is now the sole owner of the record-breaking title for most Diamond-certified singles.

Details inside.

In jaw-dropping news, the RIAA has reported Posty, thanks to the certification upgrades attached to his hits ‘Circles,’ ‘Better Now,’ and ‘I Fall Apart,’ now owns eight Diamond plaques for singles – a music history first. The trio of tunes follow his similarly-christened hits ‘Congratulations,’ ‘White Iverson,’ ‘Psycho,’ ‘Sunflower,’ and ‘Rockstar.’

Look below to see the full list of hits from his discography that enjoyed updates from the RIAA recently.

  • ‘Circles’ (Single)
  • ‘I Fall Apart’ (Single)

3x Platinum

  • ‘Ball for Me’ (Single)

  • ‘Over Now’ (Single)
  • ’92 Explorer’ (Single)

1x Platinum (for sales of 1 million in the U.S.)

Already one of the best-selling artists in digital music history, Malone’s cumulative career single sales now sit at 134 million. The only artists to boast a higher career count are Drake (184 million), Eminem (166 million), Rihanna (164.5 million), Kanye West (142.5 million), and Taylor Swift (137.5 million).

To celebrate the victory, Posty has announced a new compilation album containing all of his Diamond-certified hits, ‘The Diamond Collection,’ will hit digital shelves Friday (April 21).

He has a talent for making some of the most annoying songs. And it seems like every other day someone is “breaking a record”. The industry is not what it used to be so I’m not impressed.
