Missy Elliott‘s season of receiving her flowers continues.
For, fresh from the announcement of her upcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the star was saluted with the Music Innovator Award at the Black Music Honors 2023.
The event, which took place last night (May 19) in Atlanta, was attended by a host of notable names – including Tweet and Nicole Wray. Both of whom began their careers as protégées of Elliott’s.

Expressing thanks for the award, Elliott said:
“Thank you to everyone at the Black Music Honors for this Music Innovator Icon award! I never take these moments for granted it warms my HEART to even be ACKNOWLEDGED! I am honored to be apart of the CULTURE & MUSIC. I still punch myself a lot because It do still feel like a dream at time.”
