“That’s Not Cool”: Halle Berry Says Drake & SZA “Didn’t Get Permission” To Use Her Photo for ‘Slime You Out’

Halle Berry is making headlines for keeping it all the way real about Drake‘s latest single, ‘Slime You Out.’

One of many eagerly awaited tracks set to line the hitmaker’s forthcoming studio album, ‘For All the Dogs‘ (due on digital shelves September 22), the SZA-assisted track left eyes popped out after a peek at its official cover artwork which features the Academy Award-winning actress getting ceremoniously slimed at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

And while award show moment was done in good fun, Berry wasn’t exactly laughing when she copped a gander at the imagery.

Look inside to see what she said about the matter.

As Drake and SZA fans continue to get acquainted with the slow-burning cut (released September 15), Berry was delivering a fiery response to a commenter who asked how she felt about the cover.

As seen in the capture above, the legendary actress did not shy away from voicing her disapproval about the ‘Slime’ artwork.

“[Drake] didn’t get my persmission,” she started. “That’s not cool; I thought better of him.”

Going on to elaborate, Berry expressed the act was especially hurtful considering that the Canadian rapper was among musical acts she once admired.

At writing, Drizzy has not responded to Halle’s comment.

did he need HER permission or Nickelodeon’s permission? I just want people to ask the RIGHT questions before making statements.

Basically, if SHE owned the rights to that picture, then she has a point. But if Nickelodeon owns the rights to the image, and Drake/his people were given permission by them, she doesn’t have a point.

    Whatever happened to critical thinking?

She is saying that asking her first would have been the right thing to do, which is what she would have expected from him/them. Now she knows he/they have no regard whatsoever for what is right, as long as their actions are legally in compliance. But that doesn’t change the fact that using it without her permission was flat out wrong/inconsiderate; she does have a point, just maybe not grounds for a lawsuit.

Definitely! I can totally see it as a courtesy to ask her. But to say he didn’t have “permission” implies a legal connotation and unfortunately that image is available on Getty images for anyone to purchase the rights to for whatever they wanna use it for. If she didn’t want that image used, she could’ve easily had it taken down.

It’s kinda like the whole “Energy” thing with Kelis.

I don’t think the word permission necessarily has legal connotations. We don’t know what was in her mind when she said it or if pursuing possible legal rights were or will ever be in her mind but we know for sure that she considers it uncool and it sounds like we both agree with her on that. As for the Kelis “Energy” beef, it would have been nice to ask her too, though not legally necessary… but when it comes to someone’s likeness and image, that’s a whole ‘nother level in my opinion.

Everything that is legal isn’t right. She expected Drake to show common courtesy.

Halle should be more offended by how MID the song is. They literally do NOT need Halle’s permission to use that pic. 😆 🤣 💯

It is legal to post the picture. Thats not a crime. She can still sue him for using it. It’s her face, image.
Using someone else’s image, face to promote a product is a civil issue

Yall so air headed in these comments missing the point. Its not about legality. She’s saying that she wanted him to ask permission cause it HER. its the right thing to do. You dont just take a photo of someone and use it without asking them if they are ok with it first. Thats weird.

Yea its about common courtesy and respect especially since they are both famous ( a non famous person should get the same respect just saying they in the same field somewhat with both being famous ) I honestly felt the same about that guy suing Cardi like ppl may not have known it was him but it was still his picture.
