DaBaby is waxing candid about his losses following the homophobia scandal that erupted in the wake of his comments while performing at Rolling Loud
As extensively reported, the MC came under fire when chanting the following at the 2021 instalment of the festival:
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, then put your cellphone lighter up.
Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
The aftermath saw the rapper dropped from many a live lineup and endorsement deals terminated. This, on heels of begrudged apologies and supposedly sincere do-overs weeks later.
Now, almost three years on, DaBaby is opening up about how the situation impacted his pockets.

Speaking to Shannon Sharpe on the Shay Shay Podcast, he claimed that he lost out on an estimated $200 million.
Rather than lick his wounds, the Charlotte native claims it’s a “blessing in disguise.” DaBaby said:
“I really feel like that’s a blessing in disguise at this point in my life…Had I not been forced to sit my a** down and self-reflect cause I still didn’t sit down even when it took place, I’m fighting I’m fighting it…’nah that ain’t what is’… it took for God to [say] sit yo a** down…it took that for me to get to a point ok where I’m comfortable within my situation and the results that I got and now let me explore what took place to get me here and ok now let me explore what shape me into the person that I am to put me in this situation.”

So, was it worth it? Gay people are still gay and still doing whatever they do. But he lost out on life changing earnings. Hopefully he’s learned how to pick his battles.
