While People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ announcement usually leaves readers divided, this year’s overall winner – former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Patrick Dempsey – seems to be one of the mag’s more widely celebrated picks as many (including Dempsey himself) note the crowning is long overdue.
But, what came along with the November 8 reveal were also the categorical winners – many of whom are earning side-eyes from critics.
Among those igniting ongoing conversation on social media is ‘Watermelon Sugar’ singer Harry Styles who took home the title of 2023’s ‘sexiest musician alive.’
Taking to press Wednesday, People almost broke the internet with the unveiling of Dempsey as its ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’
Also awarding titles by field, the magazine listed Mark Consuelos as the ‘sexiest morning show host’ and Pierce Brosnan as the ‘sexiest grandpa’ while Trevor Noah was crowned sexiest funny guy and Travis Kelce was named ‘sexiest athlete.’
And while sex symbols like Usher and Lenny Kravitz were among finalists for the ‘sexiest musician’ honor, it was Styles who was announced the victor after tens of thousands of ballots were cast in the GRAMMY winner’s favor.
“All of the guys in this category (including Tim McGraw, Bad Bunny, and Future) are certainly sexy in their own right, and they’ve got the A-list love lives to prove it. But it was Harry Styles who had you hearing the sweetest music,” People wrote.
