Taking to press, the Official Charts Company announced that ‘1989’ opened with 184,000 chart units more than double the original output of ‘1989.’
With the large sales, Swift now holds the record for biggest sales week of the year and extends her records as the female artist with the most #1 albums this century. Swift has 11 #1 albums, one shy of tying Madonna’s overall record among female artists ever.
Additionally, Swift lands 3 songs in the top 10 of the singles chart. ‘Is It Over Now?’ debuts at #1, her third chart-topper, ‘Now That We Don’t Talk’ opens at #2, and ‘Slut!’ opens at #5.
Number 1 album and single and the hihest first weeks sales of her album is the hugest this year.
