When Teyana Taylor announced the end of her marriage to Iman Shumpert, the multihyphenate relayed that the pair were parting on amicable and friendly terms.
Now, however, her official divorce filing paints a markedly different picture.

TMZ reports that Taylor’s filing dives into detail about the circumstances surrounding the breakup of their 7-year marriage.
She asserts that he felt insecure about being good enough for her, despite the fact that his multi-million dollar earnings as a professional basketball player dwarfed her monetary potential as an artist.
He’s said to have grown frustrated with the lack of attention he’d receive on red carpets when they would attend events together. This allegedly morphed into him picking arguments purposefully – including on her birthday.
Per Taylor, her ex was “treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.”
To placate the situation, she claims she “began to intentionally dim her light for her husband to try to have a harmonious and peaceful marriage” due her her hubby becoming “more and more angry” about her ascend.
This, she adds, led to Taylor turning down music and acting opportunities – centrally because Shumpert didn’t want her working. Yet, oddly when she scaled back after the birth of their first child, he allegedly bemoaned her not making money.
Seeking to save her marriage, she says she leveraged her connections to assist his post-basketball efforts in the media sphere. But it’s claimed he “unfortunately insisted on bickering,” which led to her actually beginning divorce proceedings in January 2022 before the couple reconciled shortly after.
Stressing that he continued “being extremely emotionally and mentally abusive towards her,” Taylor reached the end of her tether and formally filed for divorce again this January.
That wasn’t the end of their story just yet. Because she was “unable to handle the emotional rollercoaster.”
Taylor’s filing does away with the political correctness of her initial split announcement and cites multiple cheating instances during their union, spotlights Shumpert’s DUI arrest and his 2022 weed possession arrest.
Taylor also alleges Shumpert once crashed her Rolls Royce and fled from the scene to avoid another DUI arrest.
All, she insists, has become too much.
Interestingly, sources close to Taylor say she wanted to keep the whole drama under wraps. Hence, her filings were made with initials. However, with Shumpert’s formal response referring to their names, it was only a matter of time before the matter spilled into the public domain.
Moments ago, legal reps for Shumpert issued the following statement:
“Mr. Shumpert hopes parties and counsel can work toward a fair resolution, keeping the best interests of the children of paramount concern.”

Yes. I read somewhere that in the UK, only the final decree is public for divorce files. Here in America, they seem to think that it takes a village to uphold or sustain a marriage (🙄) hence, once a filing is submitted, it’s public record. Anything that goes through a courtroom is accessible to anyone and it’s unfortunate.

She used him for monetary gain and clout… probably had him feeling insecure by denying him s**, because ultimately, he didn’t have anything she wanted.
Outside of a song lyric, I didn’t know that she denied him s33x. That’s something that should never happen in marriages. Both parties should have no issues giving it to each other outside of someone simply not being in the mood.
