Just two months after being showered with praise by her idol Janet Jackson (as we previously reported), Victoria Monet has gotten a nod from yet another music royal: Queen of Quiet Storm Anita Baker.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday (January 4), Baker responded to a resurfaced social media post of Monet’s by sharing how proud she was of the rising R&B diva.

 “I wanna make a classic love song that Anita Baker would be proud of,” Victoria said in an early 2022 tweet.

Anita – famous for some of the genre’s most memorable classics like ‘Sweet Love,’ ‘No One in the World,’ ‘Giving You the Best That I Got,’ and more – gave her stamp of approval to the 34-year-old’s ‘Jaguar II‘ cut ‘How Does It Make You Feel.’

“You’ve already done it. By using all of your gifts,” the 65-year-old revealed. “‘How Does It Make You Feel’ is melodic masterpiece. CONGRATULATIONS on ALL your well-deserved nominations & accolades & keeping R&B in your world/generation.”

Once news of Baker’s response to the aged tweet hit the desk of Vickie, the ‘On My Mama’ hitmaker took to social media to share her elation.

“This is such an honor and a dream come true! My gratitude for you and your art has always been immense and now to speak to you through mine feels so golden,” she relayed. “I love you to the stars and I thank you for these flowers! I’m in awe.”

‘Feel’ wasn’t just a favorite of Baker’s, but apparently of the Recording Academy as well as it landed one of the 7 GRAMMY nods Monet captured for the award show’s 2024 ceremony.
