The 9th topper of her solo career, ‘Texas’ line dances into Billboard history books as the first Country song by an African American to ever land at the hitlist’s summit.
What’s more, she joins Taylor Swift as the only female acts this century to place a tune from the genre at #1 on the all-genre chart.
Among all women, Bey becomes only the fourth in the Hot 100’s 65-year history to own a #1 hit with a Country song following Jeannie C. Riley‘s ‘Harper Valley PTA’ (1968), Dolly Parton‘s ‘9 to 5’ (1981), Parton’s ‘Islands in the Stream’ (1983), Taylor Swift‘s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ (2012), and Swift’s ‘All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)‘ (2021).
