It’s Super Bowl Sunday! So, what better time than the present to journey back to one of the most mesmerizing musical performances in the history of the Big Game?

This week’s From The Vault pick is Beyonce‘s soaring rendition of the US National Anthem at the 38th Super Bowl in 2004.

A then 22-year-old Bey took center stage to deliver a colossally captivating performance of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ in her hometown of Houston.

She enjoys the Queen title now, yet at the time the superstar was earning her stripes while on a quest to prove herself on every platform she graced.

By the climax of her seismic showing, there was no doubt that Bey had successfully elevated in earnest.

20 years (!) on, this remains a highlight in a career defined by highlights.

You are correct, Taylor would never sound so tragically boring. Don’t be jealous because your black privilege card has been revoked. I love my white privilege card, I can use it everywhere I go.

Nobody was talking. Perhaps because she reminds everyone that she is a white version of Fergie! 😬

  12. yup! February 11, 2024

While I am not a fan, she did great here. I don’t agree at all about it being forgettable. One of the more memorable ones next to Whitney’s. Giving credit where it’s due. I always prefer her covers & renditions to her original music.
