In the Billboard Hot 100’s 65-year history, only 8 female-led songs can boast a tenancy of over 60 weeks.

Before the chart’s updated print, Mariah Carey – with her perennial holiday hit ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ – reigned as the only woman of color in the exclusive group as the yuletide tune sits in second place on the all-time list among females.

The Songbird Supreme made room for company in her nest this week, however, when SZA‘s history-making smashSnooze‘ woke her up to news it had crossed the elusive threshold.

As previously reported, the latest publish of the Hot 100 sees SZA’s ‘SOS‘ single ‘Snooze’ listed at #7 for its 61st week on the chart.

The lengthy stay comes as a historic one as the Babyface-produced tune becomes only the 25th in the hitlist’s history to last at least 60 weeks.

What’s more, among those 25 songs only two – Carey’s ‘Christmas’ (65 weeks) and SZA’s ‘Snooze’ (61 weeks) – are owned by Black women.

After SZA made history at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) when hits found aboard her blockbuster sophomore album, ‘SOS,’ planted her beside Whitney Houston and Mariah for a record number of Gold-certified songs, the 33-year-old found herself beside the legendary divas when that LP became the third in history by a Black woman to top the Billboard 200 for over 10 weeks.
