Not long after surprising fans with news they would be hitting the road together as part of Stallion’s hotly anticipated ‘Hot Girl Summer Tour,’ Glo and Meg revealed they tag teamed on the song ‘Wannabe’ found aboard the former’s April 5-released ‘Ehhthang Ehhthang‘ mixtape.
Buoyed by a prominent sample of Soulja Boy‘s ‘Pretty Boy Swag,’ the Ace Charisma-produced tune quickly shot to the top of U.S. real-time sales charts after the unveiling of its official music video.
In the days that followed, the femcees unleashed multiple versions of ‘Wanna Be’ – a feat that saw the editions’ combined commercial performance hoist it to #1 on the updated Digital Song Sales chart (a career first for Glo, fifth for Meg).
Not only is the sizzling bop the week’s overall top-selling song, it also marks GloRilla’s second-highest debut to date (following the #9 entrance of the Cardi B-assisted ‘Tomorrow 2‘ in 2022).
For Meg, it ties 2019’s ‘Hot Girl Summer‘ as her third-highest debut following the #1 arrivals of ‘Hiss‘ and ‘WAP‘ and the #3 opening of the Ariana Grande and Doja Cat-led ’34+35 (Remix).’
