Pharrell Williams And Chad Hugo Enter Legal Battle Over Neptunes Name Rights

Published: Tuesday 2nd Apr 2024 by Ryan

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo have gone from working together to now showing down court.

More details below…

The two former collaborators are now in a legal dispute over the name and Hugo has accused Williams of “fraudulently” seeking sole control of the name, according to Billboard.

Hugo filed legal action last week that accused Pharrell of registering trademarks for the Neptunes name. Hugo says that this violates their agreement that had the pair split everything evenly.

“By ignoring and excluding [Hugo] from the any and all applications filed by applicant for the mark ‘The Neptunes,’ applicant has committed fraud in securing the trademarks and acted in bad faith,” Hugo’s attorney said.

A rep for Williams spoke to Billboard about the situation.

“Pharrell is surprised by this. We have reached out on multiple occasions to share in the ownership and administration of the trademark and will continue to make that offer. The goal here was to make sure a third party doesn’t get a hold of the trademark and to guarantee Chad and Pharrell share in ownership and administration,” the rep said.

It’s a official Pharrell is the problem…Kelis warned us several times on how shady he is behind the scenes. Listening to their solo work Chad was the real brains and sonically the better producer and helped gave that Neptunes sound.
