Over two decades after Dancehall superstar Sean Paul‘s 2002 breakthrough hit, ‘Gimme the Light,’ lit up the Hot 100 (#7 peak), the iconic song’s been reignited courtesy of a prominent sample in Ice Spice‘s latest song ‘Gimmie A Light.’
Undoubtedly hoping for a commercial response for her newest that mirrors Paul’s, Spice’s ‘Gimmie’ – which was first unveiled via a live performance at this year’s Coachella – is believed to be the latest taste from her highly anticipated debut album, ‘Y2K,’ and serves follows her January-released top 40 smash ‘Think U the Sh*t (Fart).’
“Big knock, like I’m not a fighter (Grrah) / Big Ice, I don’t need a writer (Like) / Her man callin’ me baby (Grrah)/ I’m Miss Poopie like I need a diaper (Grrah),” she raps on the RIOTUSA-produced cut.
Coming just days after the tease of its accompanying music video, hop inside to hear Ice bring the heat like only she can before the visual arrives at 11a CST.
