Watch: Dua Lipa Rocked ‘SNL’ with ‘Illusion’ & ‘Happy For You’ Live

Published: Saturday 4th May 2024 by Rashad

Expect to see much of Dua Lipa in the coming days as she celebrates the May 3 release of her third studio album ‘Radical Optimism.’

Having already used the year’s award season to showcase live renditions of hits from the project (see: 2024 GRAMMYs, BRIT Awards, and m0re), Lipa set her sights on Saturday’s ‘SNL‘ (May 4) to continue showing off her performance prowess and soon-to-be fan favorites from the LP.

When not rocking the house with ‘Happy For You’ and ‘Illusion,‘ the GRAMMY winner was demonstrating her acting and comedy skills as she served double duty as host and musical guest of the episode.

See the action inside.

See her hilarious monologue below.

“Happy for you” is the albums highlight and it should’ve been single number 2 or 3. Training season should have never happened. Sigh…

Bye ho, you are clearly have no taste in music. Training Season is bop perfection. Stop hating! illusion is the weakest song on the album. Falling Forever, These Walls, Whatcha Doing?, Maria are better choices. Houndini = Training Season > Happy For You > Illusion.

Happy For You (next single for sure). End Of An Era, These Walls, Falling Forever, Whatcha Doing are all single material. Lovely album! She needs to release a deluxe edition. Overall 8.8/10. Beautifully done. She has an ear for music.

I agree! Just not feeling French exit and anything for you yet…

I like French Exit and Maria both are also highlights for me on the album. Overall she did a great job with her team!

Go Queen Dua. The album is zillion times better than F a g boy carter and The Tortured P u s s y Department.

Dua’s music over Taylor’s trash music any day of the week, month or year. Dua’s voice is more pleasant for me. Can’t stand Taylor she’s overrated. TTPD sounds horrible, it sounds like a bunch of mumbling nursery rhymes. Taylor’s mayonnaise music won’t be on any of my playlist that’s how bad her music is!

Can somebody tell me why Dua Lipa is special? She doesn’t have an incredible voice. She’s not exceptionally pretty. Can she dance? Is it just that she makes middle of the road, generic music that anybody can sing, and that’s what people like? I’m really trying to understand.

can she dance? hunnie, go watch her Don’t start now EMAs performance 2019 and Levitating AMAs 2020. Her “new rule” era was a mess and then she took the critics about her stage presence seriously during Future nostalgic era. She might not have the best vocals but she keeps evolving as an artists and consistently delivering bops . that’s why we stan her.

plus she has a great team to back her up just like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, Gwen stefani, Fergie… I really missed those era when artists releasing at least 5 singles and visuals. “Stripped” “Good Girls Gone Bad” “Teenage Dream” “Loose” “Love angel music baby” “the Duchess” these era are GOLDEN!
