Chris Brown Makes Billboard History / Becomes the First Singer with 50 Top 10 Hits on ‘R&B Songs’ Chart

Published: Wednesday 10th Jul 2024 by Rashad

Chris Brown has managed to accumulate a mountain of unprecedented stats over his two-decade career.

Beyond being listed as the first artist this century to chart Hot 100 hits for 20 consecutive years, he’s the first R&B singer to have 50 top 40 hits on the Hot 100, the first R&B singer to chart over 100 hits on the Hot 100, the first male singer to have 20 multiPlatinum hits at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and so much more.

And, thanks to his most recent R&B top 10 hit, his reign over Billboard charts shows no signs of slowing.

Peruse of the updated Hot R&B Songs tally sees Chris printed at #8 alongside his ‘Wait On It‘ co-stars Jeremih and Bryson Tiller.

While the impressive debut marks the 11th and 19th top 10 hit of Jeremih and Tiller’s respectively on the chart, Brown’s appearance comes as a historic one as he becomes the first vocalist in the hitlist’s nearly 12-year history to have 50 top 10 hits.

The GRAMMY winner landed his inaugural top 10 hit on Hot R&B Songs as assistant to Brandy‘s 2012 smash ‘Put It Down‘ (#6 peak).

Among all artists, only Brown’s  ‘No Guidance‘ co-star/rapper Drake has placed more top 10 hits on this tally (54).

‘Wait’ also runs the ‘Run It‘ singer’s cumulative placements on Hot R&B Songs to 96 – extending his reign as the chart’s most-decorated artist overall.

The hits are usually to someone’s face.
He does not have one iconic hit song.

With You? Forever? Loyal? No Guidance? Go Crazy? I swear ya’ll are delusional af. I remember when Go Crazy went #3 and haters on this site were practically wishing it won’t go number 1. Number 1 or not, Chris’ 11:11 tour is bout to do $80 million stateside. And ya’ll cancelled him? ROFL

Yeah right. Well wait for Billboard to drop the official numbers. Nicki did $80m will 45 shows and her tour was way more successful. He’s not doing $80m with 36😂

Only people that see women as property and second class citizens get behind this man. Lots of self hate in our community. It’s sad.

He has more potential if he allows his sound to mature. I remember when Trey Songz switched things up with “I Need a Girl” and everyone was talking about how nice of a shift it was for him. I think that would be a good direction for Chris.
