Kim Burrell has issued a public apology to the LGBTQ community following remarks that ignited anger in earnest.
During a sermon given in 2016, the singer/preacher was recorded saying:
“That perverted homosexual spirit is a spirit of delusion and confusion and has deceived many men and women, and it has caused a strain on the body of Christ.”
Burrell would double down on the comments, insisting her words were taken out of context and that her issue centered on the “sin” not the individual.
Still, the backlash was hot and hard, with the star losing her TV show and being uninvited to award shows.
Now, during an acceptance speech at the soon-to-be-aired Stellar Awards, Burrell seized the moment to issue an apology.

In a clip shared to TikTok by an attendee, Burrell is heard and seen saying:
“Let me say it for the people in the back. I want to apologize to the LGBTQ community. Let’s give them a great big round of applause. We must all do the work to embrace all of God’s people and show forth His love to everyone. Amen. I hope this award and this moment can be the beginning of a bridge building and listening to each other.”

Those checks must’ve dried up. Like it or not the gays keep the professional church singers in business. She bit the hands that were feeding her.
