The disgraced R&B singer is asking the United States Supreme Court to dismiss the charges by using the argument that the acts he’s convicted of occurred decades ago – thus are time barred by the statute of limitations.
When hit with the accusations in 2020, following the broadcast of ‘Surviving R. Kelly,’ the self-ordained “Pied Piper” argued that the alleged conduct dated back to the early 90s. Essentially, the basis of his clapback then is what he’s restating now. But there’s a twist.
At the time, prosecutors drew on a 2003 law named the Protect Act. An act that rendered the statute of limitations applicable in perpetuity when it came to crimes of this ilk.
However, Kelly’s legal team are drawing on nuance in an attempt to quash his conviction.
For, they are now arguing that the statute of limitations is indeed not applicable because the acts Kelly is convicted of occurred in the 90s and the Protect Act was passed in 2003.
Their angle, it appears, is the supposed retroactivity of the crimes and the Act.
Kelly’s team are resting filing on the basis that Congress did not specifically include a clause permitting the law to be applied to alleged conduct committed before 2003.
It will now be up to the Supreme Court to decide whether there is any merit to camp Kelly’s argument over the next few months.
Kelly is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of six of the thirteen counts. Of the convictions, three were for child p*rn and three for inducing.
Well, they should’ve arrested the underage victim’s parents as well. That’s child endangerment. WTH they left their kids to a grown ass men for? Money talk!
There is no endangerment case here for the parents. They left their children under the adult care of R Kelly. He’s in prison for violating that care.

The parents should have also been held accountable. They made the decion of leaving their child in his care
They they should be dropped, how many of these girl’s lied about their age, knowing he was famous and had money, so he slept with them, I believe he was treated unfairly, as for the child p***, that’s a big no no , and should be punished for that , and raised a s** offender , but I do love his music!!!!

I don’t care how long ago it was!! R. Kelly is a Child Predator!!! If I had my say, he’d Never be a free man!! I have 2 girls; Izabele(22) and Katy(18) and if a man like R Kelly touched either of them, I’d string him up myself!! Forget the courts, he’d have to deal with me!! All the girls he’s messed with are in for a lifetime of therapy.
