Despite meeting industry analysts’ first-week sales predictions, Lil Uzi Vert‘s fourth studio album – ‘Eternal Atake 2‘ – still didn’t pack enough punch to dethrone Tyler, the Creator and his Billboard 200-reigning LP ‘Chromakopia.’
Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Eternal Atake 2’
First-Week Sales (SPS): 59,000
First-Week Sales (Pure): 3,000
Billboard 200 Debut: #3
After cryptic teasing, ‘Eternal Atake 2‘ – the conceptual follow-up to Vert’s 2020-released sophomore album ‘Eternal Atake – was delivered on November 1 after just being announced on October 24.
Greeted with mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, the new project was attached to a soft promotional rollout as the music video for its lead single ‘Chill Bae‘ hit digital shelves with minimal fanfare – a status that materialized into the rapper’s lowest opening figures and chart positioning yet (among studio albums).
Their first studio effort to sell less than 100,000 its first week, the ‘Atake 2’ opening represents a 79% drop from its conceptual predecessor’s ‘Eternal Atake’ (288,000 first-week sales) as well as a 65% drop from last year’s ‘Pink Tape‘ (167,000 first-week sales).
In becoming their first studio effort to miss the top spot upon arrival, the chart performance of the new LP ends a #1s streak that started with ‘Luv is Rage 2‘ in 2017.
