Bobby Brown is finding out the hard way that Britney Spears fans (affectionately called the #BritneyArmy) don’t play about their commander-in-chief.

During his recent interview at ‘Club Shay Shay,’ Brown may have rubbed fans of Usher the wrong way for comparing the R&B icon to Chris Brown but their response was nothing compared to that of Britney’s supporters.
The 56-year-old, while reflecting on artists who have covered or sampled his hits over the years, took aim at Spears for her 2004 cover of his signature hit ‘My Prerogative.’
“I don’t think [anyone has] really done justice to any of the samples that they have done to my songs,” he shared with host Shannon Sharpe. “Britney Spears butchered ‘My Prerogative’…”Teddy Riley produced it. But that was a butchering. I couldn’t take it.”
His critical pan of ‘Prerogative’ ignited a firestorm of debate on social media about whose version was better – a conversation that even spilled to Brown’s social media pages with members of the #BritneyArmy dissing him for blasting Britney’s cover.

People Are so dumb. I don’t agree with him and I really liked Britneys Version. But people saying „no one knew it was your song. Britneys was a hit“ – Bobbys version was more successfull and a No. 1 hit. Just because you are young does not give you the permission to do not doing research and being disrespectful
Actually, it’s not about youth at all. Bobby is completely irrelevant outside the US. I’m 33. I also had no idea who he was before Britney released her cover because Britney is an international superstar and an icon. Bobby is only known internationally for being with Whitney Houston. All his musical success as a solo artist or as a member of a group is only remembered in America. Comparing him to Britney Spears is laughable. Also, her version is far better than his. He really ought to be grateful. She actually did make his material relevant again for a while.
Actually, it is about age. Anyone across the globe who was a pre-t*** or older when the original “My Perogative” came out knows the impact that it had and Bobby’s relevance in pop music history. In another 20 years there’ll be a 33 year old who has no clue who Brittney is. As the parent of an 11 year old, I don’t know of many pre-teens who are currently listening to her.
It is an age topic. I‘m 36 and did not hear about him before. But my Mom knew him very well, and we are living in Europe. He was simply not known due to the Generation Gap, so as the Young people these days do not know who the Black Eyed Peas are or that Doechiis Song is a Sample from a Song that’s 12 years old…

Bobby Brown was an international megastar when his version of the song came out and Brittney was in pampers. Her fans have all the right in the world to disagree with his opinion, but let’s be clear, this remake did not make him relevant.
Lies. Bobby is a nobody outside of the US.
I like both versions
Bobby’s version is fun and gives 80s vibe, I wouldn’t put it on full volume though it’s a bit embarrassing but I like it.
Brit’s version made it s*** darkish and cool and it definitely works well as a personal statement because the lyrics tells her story with fame and the criticism she got very well, she made it her own.
I don’t expect someone like Bobby to like that style and as the lyrics say in the voice of Britney “I really don’t care”.
The question should be is how much 💰 he made from it.

We only know Bobby Brown for abusing and drugging Whitney.
No one discusses Shïtneys version. My Prerogative will always be known as Bobby’s song!
