Miley Cyrus fans (affectionately called #Smilerz) may have abandoned her latest effort, the May-released ‘Something Beautiful,’ but – if news from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is to judge by – they certainly haven’t stopped spinning the Pop diva’s hits of yesteryear.
In what has become an annual occurrence, Cyrus’ smash ‘Party in the USA‘ saw another streaming and digital download uptick the week of America’s Independence Day (July 4).
The same day, the RIAA took to press to announce the 2009 smash had risen to 15x Platinum in the country – a measure that denotes sales equivalence of 15 million.
With the commercial elevation, Miley is now in a three-way tie with Katy Perry‘s ‘Roar‘ and Lorde‘s ‘Royals‘ for highest-certified female hit in the organization’s 73-year history (among non-holiday tunes).
Overall, Mariah Carey‘s perennial classic – ‘All I Want for Christmas‘ – remains the highest-certified hit by a woman standing at a whopping 16x Platinum.

🤔 so it’s not a holiday song even though it gets renewed interest every July 4th… weird writing – just say they’re all tied for 2nd behind Mariah and stop making up accolades
