In delivering such a dynamite sum, Swift shatters Adele’s record for the highest first week sales of the Nielsen Soundscan era. The British belter held the honor for 10 years, following the 3.4 million Stateside start for 2015’s ‘25.’ A sum that hadn’t been bested…until now.
Interestingly, even sans streams, Swift will have broken the record with the project’s pure sales alone, which stand at 3,479,500.
The release of ‘Showgirl’ was supported by 31 variants, spanning formats such as vinyl, CD, and a seemingly growing array of digital iterations.
