In breaking news, it’s being reported Michael Eugene Archer – better known as the GRAMMY Award-winning Neo-Soul singer D’Angelo – has passed away at age 51.

Family, friends, and fans have already begun flooding social media with tributes of the fallen star after reports surfaced he succumbed to a private battle with pancreatic cancer.

Best known for hits like ‘Brown Sugar,’ ‘Lady,’ ‘Cruisin,’ and ‘How Does It Feel,’ D’Angelo – alongside big names like Erykah Badu, Maxwell, Lauryn Hill, and Jill Scott – is credited with the rebirth of Soul music (a subgenre of R&B) in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Archer is survived by three children – a daughter and two sons – one of whom he shared with fellow music icon Angie Stone who passed away in March.

“The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life … After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, October 14th,his family said in a statement. “We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”

2025 is such a sh*t year man. Too many greats gone this year.

First Angie Stone and now this? Smh. Beam me up Scotty and get me the hell out of here Sway because this is nuts smh. Rip to one of the GREATEST to ever do it and RIP to Diana Keaton as well, whom also recently died this past week. Both battled health problems in private…so sad. Two titans gone in such a short time.
