Reports may have been fixated with news Cardi B‘s latest album – the September 19-released ‘Am I the Drama‘ – had been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in less than one day, but that story is just one of many noteworthy the organization shared about her updated sales logs.
Among the slew of updates for the most prized titles from her discography, the RIAA revealed Cardi’s breakout hit – 2017’s ‘Bodak Yellow‘ – had reached 13x Platinum for sales of 13 million in the United States.
By doing so, it not only becomes the highest-certified female Rap song in history but also the highest-certified non-holiday hit performed by a woman of color.
The previous recordholders, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, were tied at 12x Platinum with their respective hits ‘Super Bass‘ and ‘Stay.’
Among all songs by women of color, the reigning champ remains Mariah Carey‘s perennial holiday classic ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You‘ which holds the title with a whopping 16x Platinum status.
